Community Service

The Chesterfield Humane Society feels that educating the public involves giving to the public. There are several programs in place to support and service the Chesterfield Community. The first is a cooperative effort between the Humane Society and the Chesterfield Animal Control Shelter. This effort has lead to the implementation of a pet identification and location service. This service couples a special ID tag with a phone number and a database to get lost pets reunited with their families.

The second program is assisting with the needs of special care children and elderly citizens and their pets. Another component of this program, currently in development, is a Pet Assisted Therapy Program to be put in place in local nursing homes and adult care centers.

The creation of the Mr. C. J. Cotilfi Humanitarian Award. This award was created to recognize the selfless and heroic acts of individuals for animals in our community.
